LORO PIANA

In 2024, Loro Piana celebrated its centenary by hosting the 8th edition of the Knit Design Award, themed "Fast Forward Heritage." This competition invited students from prestigious international design schools to reinterpret the Maison's iconic yarns, aiming to define the next century of Loro Piana's knitwear.

The winning project, "Cavalieri, A History Of Innovation," was crafted by students Pierre Sauvageot and Björn Backes, along with Professor François-Xavier Herody from École Duperré. Their design ingeniously combined the softness of cashmere with the strength of iron, creating a cashmere "armour" that pays homage to the past while pushing the boundaries of innovation.
